Welcome to That Funny Hill

That Funny hill is Glastonbury Tor and along with the rest of the lovely and mystical town of Glastonbury, Somerset, UK, I have been enchanted with it since my first visit on November 5th 1988. I didn’t know anything about the myths, legends and mystique of Glastonbury on that first visit. But I fell in love with the town, there was just something about it, and I fell in love with that funny hill with the tower on top. The Druids speak of something called Spirit of Place, I am not alone in feeling that spirit very strongly in Glastonbury.

This is very much a sharing of my love for this mystical little town, but I hope the photos and information might be helpful to anyone planning a visit, or might even inspire people to visit.

Glastonbury Bibliography

I love photography and I love to photograph Glastonbury more than anywhere! I must have at least a couple of thousand of photos taken over the years and now I have moved onto digital photography I take even more. I have a 1gb memory card in my camera which can hold about 880 photos and I have an ambition to fill that all up on a single visit to Glastonbury one day! For those interested I have a Canon Powershot A520, and I use iPhoto to download and manage my photos. I also use Photobucket as my web photo filestore so quite a few of the photos on here link to various Photobucket albums.

This is a photo heavy site but I am about to move onto using thumbnails which will open the photo in a new small window which hopefully will make download time quicker for those on a slow connection. I am using very basic HTML tags which should work with any browser (although on Netscape it seems to open a new full sized window). Mac Safari users will be very pleased to know it works with Safari (or at least Safari 2) as that is the browser being used by the site creator! Most of this site has been built using a mac, but there should be no problems viewing on any OS or browser.

All photos on this site will be copyright Jackie Hewitt and may not be used without permission. But I am usually happy to give permission- just ask first. If anyone would like to use photos for any reason, or as stock photos just email me- link below. I have many more photos than I can ever put on this site so if you are looking for something particular to do with Glastonbury, I may be able to help.

Some of my photos are featured in the DVD "Tracing the Inner Landscape" by my friend Jhenah Telyndru

If you want to see more of my photos, I now have a Flickr account at

My Flickr photostream

My Glastonbuty set on there is at

Glastonbury set on Flickr
- and I now have several Glastonbury sets of various kinds there too.

I have just set up a Glastonbury Tor group on flickr as well

Thank you's

A big thank you to Lee Furness for his help with the javascript for the pages with thumbnails which open the photos in a new window.

NOTE- this site is about Glastonbury the place not Glastonbury the festival which is why the latter doesn't feature at all :)
