The Chalice Well Gardens

This is my favourite of Glastonbury's sacred sites and I take more photos there than anywhere else. The Chalice Well itself (also known as the Blood Spring due to the high iron content in the water giving it a reddish tinge) is towards the rear of the gardens. The water is then channelled down the gardens to the Lions Head, where you can drink it. A waterfall then flows down into Arthurs Court, where there is a healing pool which people are starting to use again. The water is then channelled underground and rises again down a lovely freeform waterfall into the Vesica pond. A lovely new wavery channel then flows to another small pool with a Goddess statue before leaving the gardens. All the areas where the water flows are stained red. There is also an outlet in Wellhouse Lane where you can fill containers with Chalice Well water when the gardens are closed.

I will do a section here for all the different areas of the gardens. It may take a while :) To help you get an idea of the layout of the gardens and where everything is, I drew a very rough map

The paths are marked in grey, the grassy areas are green lines, the treey and shrubby areas are green squiggles and the areas where the water flows are outlined in russett. If you can't read my writing don't worry- I can't either :)
