The Tower on the Tor

I think it is the tower on the tor which helps to make it so mysterious. It draws the eye and is a landmark for a long way around. It is all that remains of a chapel decicated to St. Michael. There are a few other churches about on high places which are also dedicated to St. Michael. Most of the chapel fell down in an earth tremor in, I think, the 14th Century. The tower seemed to be in a ruinous state in the 19th Century going on an old engraving. But it has been restored, and in the 1990's concrete was poured round the base to stabilise it.
