Wearyall Hill is a long narrow humpacked hill pointing in the direction of nearby Street. On the hill is the Holy Thorn. The original was said to have blossomed from the staff of Joseph of Armithea whom legend says visitied Glastonbury. He arrived, weary (hence Wearyall Hill), planted his staff in the ground and it immediately blossomed. A thorn was cut down in Puritan times, the one standing there now may be a descendant of the original. You can do a lovely walk right over Wearyall Hill, then back along the River Brue and Old Butleigh Road. There are also lovely views of the levels, the town, and the Tor.
These photos are views of Wearyall Hill (especially from the Tor), photos on the hill, of the thorn, and views from the hill (especially of the Tor)
